"DIVA!" show provided some amazing music

"The Westcliffe Center for the Performing Arts presented "Diva" for two nights only, and they were two nights of laughter, tears, and amazing music.  Bill Protzmann and Susan Asbjornson are fantastic musical entertainers.

Protzmann is a master pianist and performer.  His humorous and colorful introductions were engaging and his artful style with the music was spellbinding.

His sense of showmanship was heartily appreciated by the audience as he set up each aria that Asbjornson performed.

Asbjornson's exquisite soprano voice was vibrant.  Her performance was filled with fun, sensuality, and nonsense as well as a classical element.  She dazzled the audience with her vivacious presence.

The show reminded me of an old-fashioned variety show with a tight theme.

Asbjornson sang opera arias throughout the evening.  That might sound a little like a recital, but there was nothing routine about this show.

Her extravagant costumes were used to their full advantage as she played with the men in the auidence and her theatrical ?presentation for each aria was lively.  There were also fun glimpses into the audition life of a diva.

Several surprises appeared throughout the evening.  A tenor sang with a bodacious and playful Asbjornson.  The music was beautiful and the audience was very appreciative.

They audience also got a chance tomake some lovely music.  Kazoos were passed out to everyone and as they began to hum, I was reminded of a giant beehive.  The uproarious laughter inters?persed with the buzzing of the kazoos raised the roof of the theater.

It was an evening of incredible music and refreshing fun.  It was an evening that will remain with the audience for a long time to come.
