| Intern Program Contemporary Opera Los Angeles As a COLA intern, you will acquire contacts, experience, skills, knowledge that will further your growth in the entertainent industry, add to your resume, and allow you to network in this industry of "It's who you know." Only opera combines tremendous vocal skills, passion, and acting in one medium and stakes are high. If you wish to work in the most demanding of all musical art forms, opera is for you. There are no microphones, no lip cynqing, no canned music over loudspeakers, just raw talent and human emotions. COLA provides the opportunity for professionals and students to experience the excitement and challenges in a live stage production. Whether your internship is artistic, production, administration, directing, or performing, you will learn how to trouble shoot and embrace these challenges and encorporate them into the production and truley learn the meaning of the phrase, "The show must go on!" |

| Video Engineering 2 Positions. Requires experience with video. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Carpentry 2 Positions. Assist carpentry staff with construction of scenery, alterations to scenery builot, load in and load out. Set design and building experience a plus. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Wardrobe 2 Positions. Assist with craft work including sewing skills, alteration of costumes, and/or searching for modern clothes at discount stores. Maintain large repertory costume inventory, dress principals and chorus, and assist with backstage quick changes. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Production Administration 2 positions. Assist the office routines, scheduling, shopping, and staff support. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Stage Management 2 positions. Assist with setting up, maintaining, and clearning rehearsal spaces; coordinating with other departments and designers; overseeing and supervising the work of producitobn rehearsals and running crews; and creating producitn books, scores, and inventories. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Technical Direction 6 positions. Install scenery; run deck, rail, and properties; perform daily scenery change-overs; build, install, and maintain rehearsal scenery and properties; strike scenery at the end of the show. Some interns will have performance opportunities. This is an excellent introduciton to most aspects of production and requires only a basic familiarity with stage prodcedures. | |||||||||||||||||||

| ADMINISTRATION | |||||||||||||||||||
| Development 2 positions. Assist with creation, administration, and smooth execution of multiple summer fundraising programs including donor benefits program, special event weekends, internet fundraising research, VIP ticketing and accommodation, foundation proposal writing, private donor events, and offic administration. Host donors at all performances, VIP intermission, and post-performance activities. Successful applicants will be energetic, fast-working, and computer literate with excellent attitude. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Marketing: 2 positions. Assist the marketing department with preparation and distributiobn of promotions, research, and analysis of tick sales data. Help staff the audience services desk at all performances. Must have a close attention to detail, congenial public manner, and computer skills. Assist with the preparation and distribution of press materials, cummunity outreach engagements, and dealings with memebers of the media and the general public, and help staff the audience services desk a the performance. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Accounting/Finance 2 positions. Assist with advance ticket sales as well as ticket sales at the door. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Photography Intern 1 position. Assist with photographer in producing publicity and archival photographs of the opera, maintain photo files. | |||||||||||||||||||

| Intern work begins in July and goes though September. All the net proceeds of Contemporary Opera Los Angeles go to charity, thus everyone from the director, singers, instrumentalists, to the conductor, donate their talent for free so that the charity will benefit. | |||||||||||||||||||
