| Belinda Wilkins, mezzo-soprano, is a native of Santa Monica California and holds a Bachelor's degree in music from USC as well as a Master's degree in vocal performance from the University of Southern California. Last year, Ms. Wilkins performed the role of Dorabella in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte, as Alto soloist in Beethoven's Missa Solemnis, the role of Mrs. McClean in Carlyle Floyd's Susannah, Katisha in Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado, and Cherubino in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, and the roles of Mother and Grandmother in Seymor Barab's Little Red Riding Hood, which she performs for Elementary School audiences in the Los Angeles area throughout the year. Ms. Wilkins performs with Los Angeles Opera and Opera Pacific, and appeared as Siebel in an Emmy nominated video of Faust , produced by Santa Monica College. Her operatic roles include Nicklausse (Les Contes D'Hoffmann) Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Meg Page (Falstaff), Flora (La Traviata), Mercedes (Carmen), Second Lady (Die Zauberflote), Mere Marie (Dialogues des Carmelites), and Erika (Vanessa). Ms. Wilkins has appeared as soloist with the L.A. Baroque Orchestra (Gregory Maldinado, director), L.A. Musica Viva (James Tyler, director), Palisades Symphony (Joel Lish, director), and Jousissance Early Music Ensemble (Jim Stein, director), with whom she appeared in a concert of songs and dances from Shakespeare's plays at the Armand Hammer Museum. |
